Beethoven Fidelio
Sydney Opera House choices?
Its my mums birthday and I want to get her tickets to the Opera house in sydney, I don’t know much about it though, Should I get
Fidelio (Beethoven),
or
A Hero’s Life – Brahms, Bartók, Strauss
Only Fidelio is an actual opera, the other looks to be an orchestral performance of works by those three composers. Since you probably don’t want to have to wear the “I went to the Sydney Opera House and all I saw was a lousy orchestra concert” t-shirt, I’d go with Fidelio.
I would also recommend investing in a good recording of the opera, with a libretto. That way you will have some familiarity with it before seeing it.
