Scream for me Earls court…… Some of Londons gig venues highlighted

A list of some of the London event venues in London, which are mainly used for music.

• The Hammersmith Appollo, which used to be know as the Hammersmith Odoen, and still is in some circles. Iron maiden swear by this venue, as it has housed some pretty impressive bands. Hammersmiths floor is sloped from the middle to the back, which allows you to see wherever you stand, and the barriers in the middle and the drop in the floor are great for seperatinhg the mosh pitters and people who just wannna the band. A good place for gigs.
• Brixton academy -Similar to Hammersmith in that both have sloped floors so you everyone can see the bands without pushing down the front. But unlike the Hammersmith, the bars down in Brixton are right down the front, which can cause those moshers to slam against it and people down the front to get crushed against them. Now i havent been to Brixton for awhile, but those bars are a hazard waiting to happen, i hope theyve removed them.
• London Astoria -Yeah, i know, much to my disgust its been torn down due to the 2012 olympics, but was it that great a venue? It didnt have Hammersmiths legendary reputation and wasnt as long, but it was just abit wider than Brixton, so it still allowed for you to pack people in. The sound did travel well in there. Not a huge less, but its still one less music venue we have.
• The Kentish town forum -A meduim to big arena which can fit a boxing ring in for the bands to play in and still have room for people to rock out in. The area to go get merchandise is quite small, so get ready to besiege it with a few hundred others.
• Earls court -A flat floor so if your a smaller person you may need to get close to the front to see, but no barriers to get whacked against, so thats a bonus. Quite big as well, and when they open the queing part downstairs in decemeber its a god send but that does get complex with having to venture back out for the toliet and go back in just to que. A large venue with room inside for seperate sections for merchandise and food and drink outside the gig area.
