Rate pokemon team for elite 4 in pokemon platinum are mine good?
I finally built up my team to take on the elite 4 leave feedback on changes or how well they are.
All level 55
Empoleon
ice beam, drill peck, surf, flash cannon
Alakazam
psychic, shadow ball, energy ball, reflect
Luxray
thunderbolt, thunder fang, discharge, crunch
Staraptor
close combat, airel ace, fly, steel wing
Magmortar
flamethrower, psychic, lava plume, brick break (fire blast maybe)
Machamp
seismic toss, strength, cross chop, flamethrower
assuming from your guys current moves, it seems you like to just power your way through in-game. Based on that, it seems to me that:
Your Empoleon is great.
your alakazam is also great
with luxray, i’d at least get rid of one electric type move, probably thunderbolt. Since Luxray is weak against ground types, maybe an ice fang? not sure if he can learn that, but probably can. The reason I say get rid of thunderbolt is because discharge is more powerful, and thunder fang is a physical move, which will work well against physical walls the elite 4 members have.
I personally like your Starraptor, as sometimes aerial ace isn’t powerful enough to take out someone, so Fly is helpful
Keep Magmortar the way it is, don’t ditch a move that helps with a weakness and type coverage for a 3rd fire type move. If you want to change him, then I’d suggest ditching lava plume for sunny day, then change brick break for solar beam. If you do that, you can use sunny day first turn, which will up Marmortar’s flamethrower’s strength. However, if you come across a water, rock, or ground type (all of which would be supereffective against magmortar), you can easily solarbeam them away.
Now, unless Machampo is a fairly high level (personally, I’d say at least 70, but 55-60 should work for you), I’d say ditch Seismic toss. In exchange, get Stone edge, as it will help him take down flying types.
Against the 1st guy, you should be able to take him down with Staraptor, Magmortar, and Machamp’s Flamethrower.
Lead with Alakazam for 2nd member the energy ball out. Then, tear her apart with energy ball and Empoleon. You might need some help for Gilscor, though.
For Flint, use Empoleon’s Surf for all, except maybe use Alakazam’s Psychic to take out Infernape, as he could hurt Empoleon. Your Alakazam should be able to outspeed him.
For Lucian, try to use Luxray to take down the weaker pokemon, and hopefully you’ll be good. You might need Staraptor’s Fly for Gallade, and if your lucky, Machamp might be able to defeat Bronzong. If not, take Bronzong out with Fire attacks. If Bronzong has heatproof ability, Just Surf him out.
For Cynthia, you NEED to use your type advantages. Decide who to use against who, and hopefully you’ll be set.
